Abstract

The reaction between the lithate [Li(THF)4]-[CH2SiMe2C(SiMe3) 2LiC(SiMe3)2SiMe2CH2] and MnCl2 has given a chloride-bridged high-spin lithium manganate, isolated as Li(THF)2.75(Et2O)0.25(μ-Cl)MnC(SiMe 3)2-SiMe2CH2CH2Me 2Si(Me3Si)2C, shown by an X-ray study to contain three-coordinate planar manganese. The ligand precursor HC(SiMe3)2SiMe2CH2CH 2Me2Si(Me3-Si)2CH reacts with methylcesium to give a compound isolated after recrystallization from benzene as (C6H6)3-CsC(SiMe3) 2SiMe2CH2CH2Me2Si(Me 3Si)2CCs(C6H6)3, in which benzene solvate molecules show a variety of hapticities.
