Professor Phil Blythe and Andy Graham capture existing vision documents, distil common key features and provide a commentary on implications to bring together the many disparate approaches to support the Technical Architecture in one coherent vision. It is clearly stated that from the visions and comments that the International Transportation Society is going to have to evolve and that the Technical Architecture has an important role in delivering the right outcomes for all stakeholders not just transport users. It is proposed that work should be undertaken to refresh the ITS Policy Document to have a clear vision of how ITS could fit in at a policy level. This also needs considering people in ITS, why they will choose to invest money or intellectual property and why the public and businesses will buy into it.
