Jaw viscoelasticity of newborn and adult lesser spotted dogfish Scyliorhinus canicula was measured using dynamic mechanical analysis. As a result, newborn lesser spotted dogfish might be unable to consume hard prey items, unlike adults. © 2008 The Authors.
