Abstract

An efficient deterministically reliable manycast protocol, called Scribble, for Ad-hoc networks is described. Scribble permits the minimum threshold specified for a message to be less than 100% and thus allow a few nodes that make up an ad-hoc network to depart or crash during the execution. The approach used in Scribble allows the desired coverage to be achieved with a small transmission overhead. Scribble offers much stronger reliability guarantees than a best-effort multicast protocol, such as ODMRP.
