Electrodeposition is considered a viable method to fabricate modulated metal multilayers exhibiting giant magneto-resistance (GMR). GMR materials consist of alternate layers of a non-magnetic and magnetic material, such as Cu-Ni, Cu-Co, etc. In order to fabricate GMR materials of high quality, it is important to control the thickness and purity of each metallic layer. One of the problems during GMR deposition is that the non-magnetic material, which is more noble, can co-discharge with the less noble component. This means that a layer containing a significant amount of the non-magnetic material is plated on top of the magnetic layer. In this work, a model is been proposed to study the effect of pulse forms on the thickness of this noble metal rich interfacial layer.
