Abstract

Chronic rejection is a major cause of graft dysfunction following solid organ transplantation. This fibroproliferative disease may be promoted by overproduction of the growth factor TGF-β. It is significant that cyclosporine (CyA) has been associated with upregulation of TGF-β by certain epithelial cells. The current study was designed to compare the effects of CyA and Tacrolimus (FK506) on the growth of cultured human epithelial cells.
