This publication came out of a lecture series in which artists present a discourse on their practices. Although the lectures are absent from this book, the speakers retain their presence through short introductory texts to their practice, works conceived for the pages, and as those taking part in a dialogue with others. Two essays frame the discussions, taking up what it means to speak, to listen, and to construct meaning or work in the interstice between the two.
