This article studies the emotionally loaded reception of Pietila's winning entry for the Finnish President’s residence 1984. The author traces the reasons for a rejection of organic natural shapes and forms. The sensualism of spatial plasticism and the detachment of the planar architecture with visual dominance are discussed as examples of artefacts with different aesthetic distance. Pseudo-Longinos refers to the excess of words and images in Plato's text (word-frenzy) and the author is connecting the theory of the sublime into the reception of organic architecture.
