Abstract

‘Arcade Promenade’ is a collective exhibition, developed jointly by Giles Bailey, Martín La Roche,Constanza Mendoza and Deniz Unal. The project is based on the experiences of sharing, dialogueof sharing, dialogue and exchange that the artists havemade during their stay at the Künstlerhaus SchlossBalmoral artists' residence. This model of intersectionsintersections, superimpositions, actions and borrowingand borrowing explores the possibilities of a residency programmeprogramme to develop into a mutually supportivemutually supportive collective infrastructure - one that emerges frommeaningful and productive connections andand that defies structures of separation, isolation andand established power relations.Even if the artists pursue different approaches toapproaches to art production and work with a variety ofwork with a variety of media, their practice is in many waysconnected to live work and performance. The starting point for the idea of a ‘compendium ofof Games’ as a conceptual and formal model was the sharedexchange about the languages of play and theand the structures of games. Typical collections, that combine several complex games in a single chessgames are a special part of many people's childhood.of their childhood. They are not only visually exciting, but also filled with playable components anddesigned in such a way that the individual componentsfit exactly into the boxes. They become anan important tool for testing ideas, creating communities
