Blom examines the dead core of contemporary glass structures, which have to be built upon huge mega structures, even if the architectural intention is to achieve light transparency. Huge glass structures communicate through catatonic or stiff elements rather than activating other senses than sight. The result is so called reduced environment. The theory is partly based on Julia Kristeva's post structuralist theory about the modes of human communication.
