This work developed recordings made from within a cave in the Lake District. A series of sound works were developed with artists for the three (to date) performances of this work at Art Night London (2017) ; The Boiler House Newcastle (2018) and The Hub London (2019).An 8 channel sound installation of free standing, simulated rock-speaker sculptures by Kogelsberger, played new sound works by invited collaborating artists. These sound works were mixes of Kögelsberger’s original recordings captured during heavy rainfall in the mouth of a disused mine, creating a trancelike, rhythmic and ritualistic soundscape hovering between abstraction and dance track. Cave Music takes its cue from the incessant rainfall in the Lake District aggravated by climate change and man’s often futile attempt to control nature.During an evenings of the live performances, experimental sound artists Atau Tanaka, Shelley Parker, Dane Law, Mariam Rezeai, Will Edmondes, Marv Radio and Chooc Ly created their interpretations of the original sounds.In the Battle of the Rocks, also devised by Kögelsberger, the beat boxing champion Marv Radio challenged the Rocks to a battle between voice and environmental sound which took place at the Hub, London.
