Abstract

This text provides a critical introduction to the term 'post-specimen' and asks if scientific objects placed in conversation with art within museums can be seen as a form of discursive entanglement. Such dialogue is considered in relation to the prefix 'post' and how in overlaps with contemporary concerns in academic writing, creative practice and philosophy. It engages in novel theory-building around notions of interdisciplinarity in art, science and curating and speculates upon new ways of thinking about the 'specimen' in relation to museum studies, creative practice, art writing, poetry and anthropology.
