The article retraces the history of two children’s book series through the analysis of the correspondence between the series editor, Ettore Fabietti, and the publisher, Bemporad, as well as the exam of the volumes. This case of study aims at sheding light on the evolution of children’s literature in Italy. In the 1920’s and 1930’s it was namely still influenced by educational and moralising purposes that in most cases prevented books from being genuinely entertaining.
