The organic growth of business incubators in China over the past three decades has exposed some gaps in knowledge when it comes to grow science and technology start-ups. In this paper using China Academy of Science and Technology Development as a case study, we explore in details the operation process of its technological entrepreneurial incubation chain and examine critical operating mechanisms of the incubation chain. Our findings reveal that each link in the technological entrepreneurial incubation chain provides different bufferingand bridgingincubation service based on various needs of incubated enterprises in different life cycle, forming a supply-demand matching in the internal hatching mechanism. In addition, after scientific docking between entry and exit screening mechanism in each link, incubated business can circulate rationally and reasonably within the chain, and the organic couplings between each link ensure the integrity of the incubation chain. With these mechanisms in place, the entire technological entrepreneurial incubation chain is able to run completely via internal effective hatching and external orderly coupling for each link in the chain.
