To be installed in March 2018, the first Wal Pawb (Eng. Everybody’s Wall) commission aims to provide a focal point for all visitors to the new People’s Market building in Wrexham Town Centre. The wall (which is technically two walls) will be situated on the exterior facade of the new Oriel Wrexham Gallery to be housed in the Peoples' Market development. It will consist of two tri-vision, motorised billboard style displays made up of three-sided prisms in a frame which rotate 120 degrees to show three different images in a sequence. The dimensions of the frame are: 9110x3250mm & 3174x3250mm. Cuddon is the inaugural artist invited through open competion to create the 6 artworks for the wall. The artworks will be created in consultation with local residents, traders and shareholders through an intensive engagement programme developed by the artist in consultation with Oriel Wrexham Gallery. The unveiling of the wall will coincides with the launch of the new Oriel Wrexham Gallery, a flagship venue for the arts in North East Wales.Using print and drawing Cuddon will explore how a 2-dimensional artwork on such a large scale might mirror the dynamic and varied space of a market in an intimate way. Using multiple surfaces and textures (created using different print processes and drawing) Cuddon will present elusive representations that engage people's personal imaginations as a means of providing personal space within a public situation.
