© 2014 IEEE. This paper presents a novel antenna design for ultra wide-band body area network applications. The design is composed of two Vivaldi shapes placed opposite to each other on the same substrate, which achieves constant impedance matching over a wide band and uniform radiation pattern. To reduce the backward radiation, two types of reflector were used: flat and curved. Results show that using a curved reflector enhances the radiation pattern on most of the UWB with less effect on the antenna impedance compared to the flat reflector.
