Notes: This piece presents a thorough and detailed analysis of changing patterns in burial practices across North-east England and south-east Scotland c. 2500-1500 BC, drawing on records of over 400 burials. It is novel in its theoretical/methodological approach to this dataset, and indeed in conducting analysis of this area as a region. It also compares the patterns in this region to those suggested by previous work on neighbouring regions (e.g. Eastern Yorkshire), making novel suggestions about the changing scale, direction and character of social networks in this part of northern Britain.
