A non-safety factor approach to the design of membrane structures

Abstract

Currently the design of membrane structures varies at international level, typically through the application of safety factors. In this paper, the potential of a reliability analysis tool to estimate safety factors is proposed, based on the principles of the structural safety concepts given in Eurocode 0.
