The paper presents the results of a major trial in the United Kingdom which is exploring how information can be provided to electric vehicle drivers to influence their re-charging behaviour to take energy from the electricity grid at times of day when the CO2 per kWh (kiloWatt Hour) is at its lowest and hence the equivalent emissions of CO2 from the electric vehicle per mile travelled would be less. This trial is utilising a selection of vehicles and drivers from the SWITCH-EV electric vehicle trials in the North East of England. Here there is a large network of publically available re-charging points as well a private charging posts at home for the triallist to use.
