A novel identification mechanism is presented for users of an instrumented kitchen environment. An Ensemble-based approach for actor identification is applied to accelerome- ter data captured while people performed food preparation tasks using sensor equipped utensils. The two-stage sys- tem shows promising results for actor identification using se- quences of accelerometer data. We demonstrate that rapid actor identification based on the use of kitchen utensils is feasible. This represents an important step towards the goal of providing personalized situated support in the kitchen.
