The article discusses the contradicting use of the new mega glass structures. It refers to the difficulties of finding the best technological application that justified the immense use of glass in structures in recent years. The author asks why the obsession is so widely spread. The fascination of glass is as intense as the horror caused by stiff mega boxes. The latter environment triggers psychological conditions where fictional takes over a realistic view on environment. The glass structures refer to the immobility condition of death by using heavy steel structures, and minimising the detailing. The result is the negative, down-levelling mode of the sublime. At the same time the glass refers to another end of emotions, towards the ecstasy of eternal change in life. The intense multitudeness of light and its variations and reflections represent the liberating, utopian and up-levelling sublime mode in prismatic glass. The article defines the semiotics of the uncanny by using Julia Kristeva's modes of communications.
