This note offers a reconsideration of a passage of the pseudo-Ciceronian Invective against Sallust (5.14) and argues against the established view that it features a hostile reference to Nigidius Figulus and his Pythagorean circle. Several alternative reconstructions of the text are canvassed. No positive conclusion seems attainable.
