Hairchitectures – A practice-led investigation of means and materiality of architectural drawings and architectural space. Having won an Abbey Fellowship at the British School at Rome, I spent 3 months there (May-July 2008) investigating means and materiality of architectural drawings and architectural space through practice-led research. This resulted in a substantial body of drawings, collages and two site-specific wall paintings. I was invited by curator Mirela Pribac (http://www.sothebysinstitutelondon.com/spazi.html) to create a site-specific wall-painting for Spazi Aperti (showing among others Matthias Weischer, Carsten Nicolai, Daniel Schnell) at the Romanian Academy in Rome (June 2008). This exhibition was accompanied by a catalogue (spazi aperti, Accademia di Romania in Roma, p.26). I was also invited to participate in the group exhibition Tuttifrutti at the British School at Rome (June 2008)(http://www.bsr.ac.uk/bsr/sub_news/extra/BSR_News_exhibition_Tutti01.htm) where I combined a wall-painting with large-scale drawings. A book was produced in connection with this exhibition (Fine Arts 2007-2008,The British School at Rome(ex.cat., The British School at Rome), pp52-55, ISBN: 978-0-904152-52-4). I also presented work from this research at EX ROMA II, APT Gallery in Deptford, London (November 2008) (http://www.aptstudios.org/gallery/past_08.htm). This research/work was also disseminated to students, staff and the public via my solo exhibition Hairchitecture at the Blue Gallery in the Fine Art Department, School of Arts & Cultures, Newcastle University (October 2008). Artworks: large-scale drawings (8), drawings (10), collages (10) and wall paintings (2), sound pieces (3). Exhibitions (4) and publications (2).
