Abstract

The article focuses on the new politics of masculinity within the legal arena which is said to represent an important but unexplored cause for the collapse of the legitimacy of patriarchal power in modern societies. It explores social and political influences that shaped this collapse within feminist legal studies including how law is accorded a place in the reproduction of gender relations through an engagement with hegemonic masculinity. It also focuses on the relationship between law and the idea of masculinity within a psychosocial context.
