Abstract

Freightwise builds on the Norwegian ARKTRANS initiative to establish a Framework for efficient co-modal freight transport. The aim is to simplify the interaction between stakeholders by defining the main roles that need to interact in order for such activities to be as efficient as possible. The main roles are: Transport User and Transport Service Provider, supported by the Traffic Manager and the Transport Regulator. Freightwise has also defined a generic specification of a transport service (a Transport Service Template) and a small set of information objects that need to be exchanged between the four main roles. Between the transport User and the Transport Service Provider, only three information objects are defined: Transport Service, Transport Execution Plan and Transport Service Status. This paper explores the goal, context, methodologies utilised, results and valudation in multiple business cases. The paper ends with reflections on how the Frameowork met business needs and how it may be revised accordingly.
