A number of factors influence discomfort during intra-oral local anaesthetic injections. These can be divided into three categories. Firstly, features concerning the equipment; secondly factors related to the patient and finally aspects that are under the control of the dentist This paper will describe those aspects that the dentist can control and consider strategies to reduce injection discomfort.
