Notes: This volume examines the typological plausibility of Processability Theory, a psycholinguistic approach to second language acquisition developed by Pienemann (1998). A typological perspective is applied to Arabic, Chinese and Japanese as well as to the issue of L1 transfer and to the comparison of different types of acquisition. The original theory is extended to include a wider range of phenomena. All Chapters are based on large sets of second language corpora. (Four of the eight chapters of the book are authored or co-authored by Pienemann.)
